Who we hire — and what the new CNA titles mean
Maryland changed its nursing assistant titles on April 1, 2026. If your certificate looks different than it used to, nothing about your ability to work with us has changed. Here is the plain-English version.
CNA-I
Formerly CNA/GNA
The Board of Nursing renamed the CNA/GNA credential to CNA-I. Your certificate number did not change. A CNA-I may practice in any setting in Maryland, including long-term care. Since April 2026, this is the only certificate new applicants can apply for.
CNA-II
Formerly CNA
The plain CNA credential — along with the old School Health, Home Health and Developmental Disabilities designations — became CNA-II. A CNA-II may practice in every setting except a nursing or skilled nursing facility. Home care is not long-term care, so CNA-IIs are fully eligible to work with us.
LPN
Licensed Practical Nurse
Practising under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician, our LPNs support clients with higher clinical needs inside an RN-authorised plan of care.
RN
Registered Nurse
Our RNs complete the comprehensive nursing assessment, write and authorise every plan of care, and supervise delegated care in the home.
Holding a CNA-II and want to move to CNA-I? You will need to complete a Board-approved nursing assistant training program and pass the Board-approved competency evaluation. We will point you to approved programs and work around your class schedule. Details are on the Maryland Board of Nursing website.
The work itself
What a shift actually looks like
Personal care done with dignity. Meals cooked the way she has always made them. Medication reminders on time. A walk in the garden if the weather holds. Vital signs when the plan calls for them, documented properly. And the part no job description captures — noticing that something is different today, and knowing exactly who to tell.
Shifts run mornings, evenings, overnights, and live-in. Tell us your availability and we will build around it rather than against it.

Caregiver questions
My certificate still says GNA. Can I still apply?
Yes. On April 1, 2026 the Board of Nursing administratively renamed CNA/GNA certificates to CNA-I and plain CNA certificates to CNA-II. Your certificate number did not change and neither did your ability to practise. Enter the number you have.
I hold a CNA-II. Am I eligible?
Yes. A CNA-II may practise in every setting except a nursing or skilled nursing facility. Private-duty home care is not long-term care, so CNA-IIs are fully eligible for our assignments.
Do you offer full-time hours?
We do, including live-in and overnight work. We also work with caregivers who want a steady part-time schedule. Tell us your availability in the application and we will be honest about what we can offer.
How far will I have to drive?
We match assignments to where you live wherever we can. Most of our clients are in Towson, Ruxton, Roland Park, Pikesville, Lutherville-Timonium and Owings Mills.
What does the screening involve?
Verification of your Maryland certificate with the Board of Nursing, a criminal background check, driving-record verification, and reference calls.
Will I be told what my client needs?
Always. Every client has a written plan of care authorised by a registered nurse, and you will have it before your first shift. If anything changes, the plan is updated and you are told.
