Caroline Wamaitha, LPN

Caroline Wamaitha is a licensed nurse and Empathy Nursing Agency’s Director of Operations. She came to us from some of the leading retirement communities in Baltimore, bringing the kind of experience that cannot be taught in a classroom — the judgement that comes from thousands of shifts, and from knowing what good care looks like when nobody is watching.

What a Director of Operations actually does

Most families never meet the person who decides whether their care works. Caroline oversees our caregiving staff — how they are trained, whether they are competent for the assignment they are given, and whether the standard holds on a Tuesday afternoon in February when the initial enthusiasm has worn off.

She is the one who notices that a caregiver needs more support before a family notices anything is wrong. That is the difference between an agency that reacts to problems and one that prevents them.

Experience across the whole spectrum of care

Caroline has worked with diverse populations in a range of settings, and it has given her an unusually clear view of what individual clients actually need — as opposed to what a standard care plan assumes they need. Two people with the same diagnosis can require entirely different care, and recognising that quickly is a skill.

That perspective shapes how we match caregivers to clients. It is why we build small, consistent teams around each family rather than filling shifts from a rotating roster.

Training, mentoring and the standard we hold

Our caregivers are Maryland-certified CNA-I, CNA-II and LPN professionals working under plans of care written and authorised by a registered nurse. Caroline makes sure they are ready for the homes they are sent into, and she keeps developing them once they are there.

She mentors as much as she supervises. Caregiving is a craft, and craft is passed from person to person — which is why our caregivers stay, and why families meet the same faces month after month.

Reachable when it matters

Care does not keep office hours. Caroline is reachable to our caregivers day and night, so no one is ever left alone with a difficult judgement call at 3am. For families, that means the person deciding what happens next is a nurse who knows your loved one’s situation — not an answering service.

Comprehensive nursing assessment and authorisation of each plan of care are carried out by the agency’s registered nurse. Caroline practises within the scope of her Maryland LPN licence.
